Building community
In his first year, Euloge joined Black Students in Business club, where he met peers who became some of his closest friends to this day. He also valued the mission of the club, and felt it built his confidence and networking skills. Now in his final year, he is co-president of the club and thankful for the community it’s given him.
Hands-on work experience
Euloge’s internship at Scotiabank as an investment banking intern, was a formative experience, cementing his passion for business and strengthening his work ethic. Stepping up to the challenge of long hours and high pressure situations, Euloge found that he was able to be more vocal and confident in himself, ultimately leading to personal and professional growth. Reflecting on the experience he said, “my internship at Scotiabank gave me experience in the field I eventually want to go into after graduation: investment banking. The experience taught me how to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and build my confidence in myself and my skills. By the end of it, I had undergone personal and professional growth and was able to better advocate for myself in the workplace.”
Skill-building beyond your major
Though many of his courses and work experiences revolve around finance, Euloge has found skill-based classes to be equally as important in his professional development. One such course was MGTA36: Management Communications, which taught students about public speaking and communications. Every week, students had to present to their class on a specific topic, using the right tone and without using filler words. Eulogue cites this challenge as something that ultimately helped him build his confidence and prepare for interpersonal communications in the workplace.
