The Indigenous Outreach Program at U of T Scarborough is an opportunity for students, staff, and faculty to connect with Indigenous communities on traditional teaching land.

Centre for Indigenous Studies

Knowledge Keepers & faculty
Elders embody a living memory of the past, a perspective on the present, and a guiding vision toward the future. They are a vital presence at the University of Toronto and we encourage students to engage and grow in connection with them. Indigenous staff and faculty provide valuable teachings to students and the wider community.
Indigenous clubs & student initiatives
With over 1,000 student-run clubs, U of T has a vibrant extracurricular scene. Here are just a few examples of Indigenous student groups and programs where you can connect with community on campus.

Future Indigenous Undergraduate Students Finances
University is a big investment. That's why we offer a range of financial supports, including dedicated scholarships and awards for Indigenous students, to help you access and succeed in your education.

Indigenous Tuition Initiative
Our Indigenous Tuition Initiative supports and strengthens relationships with Indigenous communities in Ontario, across Canada and in the United States. The initiative provides tuition support for students from nine First Nations communities in Ontario, Indigenous students from across Canada, and Native American/Alaska Native students from federally recognized tribes in the continental U.S.
Scholarships & awards
The University of Toronto offers thousands of student awards each year, based on a wide range of eligibility criteria. Some of these awards are dedicated to students who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit or Métis). For example, the President's Award for the Outstanding Indigenous Student of the Year recognizes students of Indigenous ancestry (Status, Non-Status, Inuit and Métis students). This is just one of many award opportunities available across U of T’s three campuses.
Some awards are available at the time of admission for students who self-identify as Indigenous in the Awards Profile:
Financial aid
Financial aid is designed to help make your education more affordable. You may be eligible for government financial aid like OSAP, and if that doesn't cover all your costs, our own programs, like UTAPS, can help fill the gap. We're committed to ensuring that financial need won't prevent you from completing your degree.
Band funding
The University of Toronto accepts Band funding. Contact your Band’s Education Office or Coordination team to inquire about available funding to support your postsecondary ambitions.
