Canadian University or College
If you are currently a university or college student or you have completed post-secondary studies, you can find your admission requirements listed below. Be sure to also check the Program Finder to see if there are additional, program-specific requirements for your intended program of study.
Be sure to also check the additional requirements for your intended area of study. And, if your first language is not English, you may need to provide an English language test.
- If you have previously registered at the University of Toronto in a degree program, pre-university program or as either a non-degree or visiting student (this does not include Continuing Education studies), you are considered an “internal” applicant when you apply again.
- Admission consideration is based on your CGPA and most recent annual GPA. If you have a strong academic record, you may be eligible for a provisional offer of admission.
- Program prerequisites must be met at either the senior high school or university level. Applicants to limited enrolment programs must present the required first-year university courses.
- Successful applicants are admitted to a program area. Admission to a specific program is determined by the Faculty/Department once transfer credits have been assessed, and will depend on whether or not program prerequisites, grade requirements and any other admission requirements have been met.
- Transfer credits are assessed after admission has been decided. Credits are considered for degree courses taken at recognized degree-granting institutions. Find out more about transfer credits.
- Note:
- If you already hold an undergraduate degree or have completed more than two years of university-level study, refer to Transfer Credit Information for details.
- Some programs do not consider applications from students who have completed (or are completing) studies at the post-secondary level, including at U of T. Be sure the program in which you are interested will consider your application.
- If you wish to take courses to qualify for a graduate program or other professional programs, you may want to consider applying as a non-degree applicant.
- Admission consideration is based on your overall academic record and your most recent annual average. Competitive students normally have a solid ‘B’ average in their university studies. Some programs require higher standing.
- If you are currently enrolled at a Canadian university and have a strong academic record, you may be eligible for a provisional offer of admission. You must submit a transcript showing your current year courses in progress, including your first semester results if possible – as well as any other documents required to complete your application – by the published document deadline for your program(s) of interest. If we are unable to provide you with a provisional decision, we may reconsider your application if space remains available in your program of interest when we receive your final transcript. In determining admissibility, the University of Toronto reserves the right to take into account repeated courses, grades in specific subjects and other aspects of your academic record.

- The Cote de Rendement (R score) will be used for admission consideration for most programs.
