Counsellor Updates for Fall 2022

Programs & Certificates

There are several new programs and certificates for your students to explore:

Arts & Science Internship Programs (ASIP)

Just a quick reminder that Faculty of Arts & Science students in eligible programs can combine 12-20 months of paid work with specialized professional development training. Students gain work experience in their target fields, learn valuable career skills, and build a network, all while being supported by a dedicated internship team. Learn more about ASIP.

Fall Events & Visits

Fall Campus Days and Start Here

We kicked off the year with Start Here, a one-stop online event for any student looking to learn more about the Ontario university application process. We’re also hosting a series of open houses for our annual Fall Campus Days:

  • Virtual – October 15
  • St. George – October 22
  • Mississauga – October 29
  • Scarborough – November 12

These are terrific opportunities for students and their families to sample what’s in store at U of T and get guidance from the comfort of their own home. Registration will open soon, but your students can keep an eye on our Fall Campus Days page for details.

Campus Tours

Our colleagues at U of T Mississauga are offering a full schedule of campus tours that are led by student ambassadors
Tours of U of T Scarborough will begin again in October, but until then, we warmly invite all students to enjoy our campus tour videos and deep dives.
And our St. George campus is offering a hearty mix of campus, college, and faculty tours—there is something for almost any student interested in U of T!

Take a Virtual Tour of the Faculty of Arts & Science

With its historic buildings, picturesque green spaces and state-of-the-art classrooms and labs, the Faculty of Arts & Science will provide an unforgettable setting for your university experience. Start exploring by taking a virtual tour. Start the tour.

Hack Attack: Virtual Hackathon

U of T Scarborough is proud to announce Hack Attack, a virtual hackathon event on Saturday, October 29 for Ontario high school students in Grades 11 and 12. A hackathon brings together teams of students from different schools to build upon or create a solution for a company which has a business issue that requires an immediate strategic decision. Learn more and register a team.

Volunteer Opportunity for High School Students

High school students are needed as volunteers at the first annual U of T Scarborough Homecoming on Saturday, September 24. Volunteer roles available to students include assisting at booths with children’s activities, providing directions to event spaces, helping with event set-up, and assisting at welcome or check-in stations. Students can learn more and register on the Alumni website.

Access, Equity, and Indigenous Student Recruitment

We’re always building on our commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in our recruitment work. Last year we launched two hubs for Black and Indigenous students, as well as an Equity, Outreach, and Support resource page. This year we’ve hired two new Indigenous Student Recruitment Counsellors to work directly with Indigenous prospective students and communities—and will again be participating in the Aboriginal Post-Secondary Information Program (APSIP) tour. If you have any questions for our Indigenous recruitment team, you can contact them directly at indigenous.undergrad@utoronto.ca.

The National Scholarship Program

Don’t forget to encourage your most exceptional students to apply for the University of Toronto’s National Scholarship. Each year, ten to fifteen students are awarded National Scholarships, which cover tuition and residence fees for four years. Applications are due by October 20, 2022. Learn more about The National Scholarship.
