The University has comprehensive scholarship programs that recognizes outstanding achievement at different levels of study. The University, its colleges, faculties and divisions award approximately 4,500 admission scholarships that total nearly $20 million and nearly 5,000 in-course awards each year.

Scholarship Sorter
The Awards Sorter is available for students to explore awards that are available to University of Toronto applicants and students. The tool provides details on awards, including how to apply, if applicable. The Scholarship Sorter will be integrated with the Award Explorer tool, once it is launched!

If the application deadline falls on a day the University is closed (e.g. weekend, statutory holiday, etc), applications are accepted on the following business day.

An undergraduate prize will be awarded for the best essay on the History of Medicine (written for HPS 314Y). The graduate essay may be written for any course in the history of medicine and should be of publishable standard.

- a science program in the Faculty of Arts and Science or UTSC or UTM, or

Applied Science and Engineering:
To be awarded to an outstanding female student in Fourth Year on the basis of academic standing and demonstrated commitment to women’s issues within the Faculty and the community at large. In addition, to academic standing, qualities of character and leadership abilities are also considered. Interested applicants should submit a letter of application to the Manager of Student Services by February 1st
Arts and Science:
To be awarded to the female student in Fourth Year with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average in a Science Program.
To be awarded to an outstanding female student graduating in a science program.
Recipients must be either:
- An undergraduate student in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures planning to undertake (or is already engaged in) a major or specialist program in Polish langauge and literature (as such programs are defined in the University calendar)
- A graduate student in the Department of Slavic Languages enrolled in a program leading to a doctorate in Polish literatures or linguistics
Recipients must be/have:
- Enrolled in the second, third or fourth year in Geological Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering or be a specialist in Geology in the Faculty of Arts and Science
- High academic standing
Preference will be given to students coming from Schumacher, Ontario.
To be awarded to a student in the Department of Nutritional Sciences on the basis of financial need.
Recipients must be/have:
- Entering the third year or graduating year in the field of medicine, engineering or sociology.
- Demonstrated high academic performance
- Qualities of leadership and all-round participation in extracurricular activities
Recipients must be enrolled in either:
- Applied Science and Engineering (any engineering department)
- Arts and Science (Department of Fine Art, second or third year of the Specialist Programme in Fine Art (History of Art), or second or third year of the Specialist Programme in Fine Art (Studio))
- Arts and Science (Specialist Programme in Drama or the combined Specialist Programme in Drama and English)
- Medicine
Recipients must be/have:
- A full-time graduate student in the field of occupational or environmental health
- Enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and the Institute of Environmental Studies or the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering
To be awarded to the student with the most outstanding marks in Second Year Restorative Dentistry.
Recipients must be/have:
- International students from India participating in the Karta Initiatives
- Admitted to the Faculty of Arts and Science or Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering.
- Attending U of T on a study permit
Recipients must be/have:
- Entering the University of Toronto from Parkdale Collegiate with the highest grade point average
- Demonstrated financial need
Recipients must be/have:
- First year student at the University of Toronto
- Graduated from a Bangladesh high school and/or University
- Demonstrated financial need
Open to Canadian permanent residents from Bangladesh.
Recipients must be/have:
- Grade 8 students currently participating in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto programs with high academic potential who suffer social and economic hardship, and risk not reaching university due to insufficient support to their family environment.
Upon the completion of Grade 8, the recipients will receive the $200 prize. In order to receive the $5,000 scholarship, the recipients are required to enrol in an undergraduate program as full-time students at the University of Toronto or a recognized post-secondary institution within Ontario.
Recipients must be/have:
- Ottawa Collegiate Institutes student who ranks highest in first or second class honours on the basis of their OAC marks in any two of the following subjects: Greek, Latin, English.
Recipients must be/have:
- Students entering the first year of any first degree course for general proficiency in the Ontario Secondary School courses required for admission.
Recipients must be/have:
- Student entering the Faculty of Arts and Science or University of Toronto Scarborough who has included Mathematics and Science in their OAC program
Preference will be given to Huron County Secondary School graduates.
Recipients must be/have:
- Students who are graduates of high schools in the City of Toronto who are pursuing studies in Science or Engineering
- Demonstrated academic merit
Recipients must be/have:
- Student from Guelph Collegiate Institute with the highest OUAC average who enters the first year of any undergraduate degree course at this University.
The winner must maintain academic standing satisfactory to the Committee of Award, to enjoy the award for a period of four years.

- International or domestic secondary school students (including CEGEP I, II & III)
- Excellent overall academic standing
Recipients must be/have:
- Students from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and/or mainland China

- The top students in the National Biology Competition (NBC) who have applied to the University of Toronto.

- Foreign student from Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq or any other member state of the Arab League
- Entering or is enrolled in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering or the Faculty of Law

The award is granted on the basis of academic merit.

- be international students who have graduated from TAIE International Institute
- entering first year in an undergraduate program at University of Toronto
- Undergraduate students entering first year of any program in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering
- Enrolled in a secondary school outside of Canada
- Demonstrated leadership through involvement in the school or the broader community
To be awarded to the University’s most outstanding secondary school students on admission. Recipients must be applying to the first year of direct-entry undergraduate studies.
