Equity and Outreach Enrichment Academy
Launched in 2023, the Enrichment Academy is a multi-year access and mentorship program that helps students from historically underrepresented communities in the Greater Toronto Area build a clear path to post-secondary education. The program serves Black, Indigenous, low-income, and first-generation youth, many of whom face systemic barriers to higher education.
Mission Statement
The Enrichment Academy was designed with input from faculty, staff, students and community partners, early discussions focused on the guiding question: “How can universities reconcile traditional recruitment with the demand for equitable access and transformational community impact?” This led to the establishment of four pillars:

- Community and Belonging
- Discovery and Inspiration
Purpose
Our multi-intervention approach guides students through four developmental stages:
- Identity Formation: Building Self-Awareness and Confidence in Academic and Personal Potential
- Self-Empowerment: Developing Transferable Skills and Resilience to Navigate Challenges.
- Social and Civic Engagement: fostering community belonging, leadership, and awareness of broader societal issues.
- Career Development and Postsecondary Education Preparation: equipping students with tools to pursue higher education and meaningful career pathways.
