English Language Transition Programs
Are you academically qualified to study at the University of Toronto, but don’t meet the University’s English language requirements?
You might be a candidate for one of our English Language Transition Programs. Available on each of our three campuses, and ranging in length from six weeks to eight months, these offerings give students a solid foundation in English, as well as sound preparation for post-secondary studies.
If you complete any of these programs successfully – you will meet U of T’s English language requirement!
Academic English at the English Language Program
Campus: St. George
Length: 12 weeks per level (four levels from low-intermediate to advanced)
For: Non-native English speaking students
Enrolment: Open enrolment (four start dates/year)
Possible Degree Credit: No
Housing: Optional
Certificate Upon Completion: Yes
Pathway to Admission: No (Students completing the highest level – Level 60 – with a grade of “B” meet the English facility requirement for all undergraduate programs at the University of Toronto. Students still need to apply and meet the academic requirements.)
International Foundation Program
Campus: St. George
Length: 8 months
For: International high school graduates who academically qualify for entry to the Faculty of Arts & Science, the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design, or the Faculty of Music (undergraduate)
Enrolment: Open enrolment for academically qualified students

Summer International Foundation Program
Campus: St. George
Length: 8 weeks
For: International high school graduates who academically qualify for entry to the Faculty of Arts & Science (excluding Rotman Commerce), the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design, or the Faculty of Music (undergraduate)
Enrolment: Open enrolment for academically qualified students

Green Path
Campus: Scarborough
Length: 12 weeks
For: Select Chinese students from partner high schools in China who qualify for entry to U of T Scarborough undergraduate programs
Enrolment: Closed enrolment through select secondary institutions in China
Possible Degree Credit: No
Housing: Required
Certificate Upon Completion: Yes (Students who pass receive an Academic English Level 60 certificate)
Pathway to Admission: Yes
Academic English @ UTSC
Campus: Scarborough
Length: Minimum 8 weeks
For: Applicants who academically qualify for entry to U of T Scarborough but have not yet met their English language proficiency requirement
Enrolment: Successful applicants to U of T Scarborough
Possible Degree Credit: No
Housing: Optional (and highly recommended)
Certificate Upon Completion: Yes (Students who pass receive an Academic English Level 60 certificate)
Pathway to Admission: Yes
Academic Culture & English (ACE @ UTM)
Campus: Mississauga
Length: Minimum 8 weeks
For: Applicants who academically qualify for entry to U of T Mississauga but have not yet met their English language proficiency requirement
Enrolment: Successful applicants to U of T Mississauga

Housing: Optional (and highly recommended)
