The Man Who Saved the World

Regarded by many as the father of modern peacekeeping, Lester B. Pearson was one of Canada’s greatest prime ministers and the only Canadian ever to win the Nobel Prize for Peace. As a statesman, politician and public servant, Pearson helped shape and define Canadian identity both at home and abroad. The Nobel Prize Committee called Pearson “the man who contributed more than anyone else to save the world” for his leadership in resolving the 1956 Suez Canal Crisis. Pearson graduated with a BA from the University of Toronto in 1919.
