Description of Award: 

The GERMAN-CANADIAN STUDIES RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP (M.A.) is awarded on an annual basis for the most promising Master’s thesis project on any aspect in the field of German-Canadian Studies. The GERMAN-CANADIAN HISTORY RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP (M.A.) is awarded on an annual basis for the most promising Master’s thesis project in German-Canadian history by a student enrolled in the Universities of Winnipeg and Manitoba’s Joint Master's Program in History, working under the supervision of the Chair in German-Canadian Studies at the University of Winnipeg. The scholarships are awarded by the Spletzer Family Foundation Inc. to foster research of the highest quality at the Master’s level into the past and present experiences of German-speaking immigrants and their descendants in Canada, as well as into history and nature of relations and exchanges between Germany and Canada.
